Izanami's soul lives in Okuni's body. Izanami was once innocent and kind. However, vicious human thoughts gradually wore down her soul after coming to the real world, following Strictness. It was her aversion and fear of aging and deception that finally led her to down the path of evil.

Aquatic Realm
Okuni is a little distressed when she is asked to get rid of the giant sea monster. "Fighting a giant monster isn't very elegant. Isn't there a job more suitable for a lady like me?" That's the first time she meets Hachi Shiki, a sea monster who likes to drink under the moon. After battling for ages, they reach a stalemate. Okuni stops attacking when Hachi Shiki transforms into a little girl. "You really don't look like a human. Humans do not have such pure eyes." Hachi smiles.
Hachi talks to Okuni in the same tone when they see each other again many years later, but he is not smiling this time. "You're turning into a real human, Izanami..."
